I wonder how effective the brass deflectors are on the new EF88Officers Basic Course

I've seen a couple ADF images with the above lug just behind the ejection port I took to be a deflector. Mind you I've only seen it on a couple actual ADF images. Maybe unit/local purchase or trial issue. That guy will get the good news when he fire if not.

This was the one I was going off when I said it didn't have one. Mentions changes to the ejection port, but not a deflector.
Here's one in the wild. The below article mentions they have made a few attempts at a deflector but still under development. I guess it isn't the ADF/Govt way to buy an off the shelf answer ( Corvus Defensio Case Deflector etc) when it can be made locally for a lot more

I'm still a little bit ill from when we had a couple of drinks at the Rams Retreat to shut down A Coy 8/9 back in 1996 prior to the Battalion being laid up in mid 1997...
Looks like they're only running a couple of platoons. Or 30 dudes are being hidden by the smoke.

Isn’t understrength the new normal everywhere?
Personally, I’d like to talk to all officer cadets and junior officers and tell them that the word “lethality” is a single use word, like an M72A6.
If you attempt to use it more than once in a career or without performing the appropriate BBDA check(what does “ operate with lethality“ mean exactly?) then you should be Soylent Greened.

The caption was done by who ever is running the 7 Brigade social media account. I'm not entirely sure who he is, but I think he's almost certainly a grunt, and most probably ex 8/9, as he froths up a bit more talking about 8/9 than he does with 6. He's also taken to stirring up the great peace crowd, who all suffer from backinmydayitis and whateverithitsstayshitSLR fever.
