Photos Australian Defence Force

The ADF long-range strike capabilities and advanced targeting systems will receive $28 billion to $35 billion in the coming decade under the 2024 Integrated Investment Program.
As part of this, Australian Air Force air-launched strike capabilities will receive investment for the F/A-18F Super Hornet, P-8A Poseidon and F-35A Lightning II to be equipped with more advanced weapons.
Funding for development of hypersonic missiles could give Super Hornets the ability to attack targets at longer ranges.

The Direct Fire Support Weapons Platoon from the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, have a mission: suppress, neutralise, or destroy enemy dismounts, vehicles, or structures through the use of anti-armour weapons and machine guns.
They fired the Javelin Weapon System, MAG58 machine guns, 84mm Carl Gusafs and .50 Cal HMG weapons systems!

Members of 4th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, engaged in a Danger Close activity as part of Exercise Chau Pha, at Townsville Field Training Area.
Gunners conducted dry and live-fire serials, exploiting the M777A2 155mm Howitzer weapon system.
The M777 provides direct support to combat troops through offensive and defensive fires with conventional and precision-guided projectiles.

The 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment’s explosive detection dogs (EDD) and their handlers are an integral specialist capability within the 3rd Brigade.
The team is compact, mobile and can work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces and difficult terrain.
During Exercise Brolga Run 2024, the EDD team supported in the detection of IEDs, explosives, ammunition, and weapon caches during search operations.

Sergeant Matthew Reid, of Jungle Training Wing in Tully, became the first Australian to successfully complete the internationally-renowned Jaguar Course, run by the French Foreign Legion and conducted in French Guiana.
