Photos of Rwandan Armed Forces patrolling the coast of the Afunji Peninsula in Kabu Delgado province. Until recently, the area nearby was in the hands of Islamic State militants. Recently, however, the government military and their allies ousted IS fighters from there. The troops intend to secure the construction of infrastructure for the extraction and processing of natural gas as soon as possible, which had to be suspended due to the ISIS attacks.

Malawian peacekeepers from MONUSCO Intervention Brigade (FIB) have received an intensive training on combat techniques in the jungle with an Brazilian Army instructor. The training helped enhance the troops’ combat efficicacy for a better protection of civilians. For the past 2 years, altogether 1,540 FIB peacekeepers have attended such training courses.
