Australia v New Zealand 5 day Test Cricket. Now we're the big kids, roughing up the little kids. Much better.

'The Witcher'
with Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, Anya Chalotra et al.
Based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkowski about the monster hunter Geralt of Rivia.

Haven't made up my mind yet. Regrettably, the first two episodes haven't particularly rocked my socks off. The acting (particularly on Cavill's part) is good, and the soundtrack and overall atmosphere is catchy.

But I have gripes, too. I get it they had to find their own place between the books and the games, but visual oddities like Nilfgaardian soldiers wearing what looks like dustbin liners for armour strike me as the designers trying too hard. I'm not a fan of the "diverse" casting either, which goes against the lore. But most importantly, I miss the humour of the books.

I have made my mind about the Witcher and it didn’t live up to my expectations, I’d guess the BBC was right. It’s nowhere in the league of the early years of GoT. Semi-disappointed and not a memorable series prolly even more so for the fans who read the books.

I’d guess the BBC was right.
Curious. I barely trust the BBC's news coverage; I sure as hell don't trust their opinion pieces. The criticism levelled against that series (it being "ableist" and whatnot) has been beggaring description.

I dunno man. Again, I wasn’t too familiar with the series and saga. Based on the TV-series only it’s merely ok-ish.

Unlike you I tend to trust more their opinion pieces (or that of Fox, CNN) than their news coverage.

I enjoyed the Witcher. Not a masterpiece or anything but it kept me entertained for the duration of it - think it was episode four though, before I stopped being outright confused by the different storylines and how they fitted in with each other.

Witcher is a great fun, but that’s it. People looking for GoT replacement are going to be throughly disappointed.

Been enjoying Bosch and Lethal Weapon (only season 1 and 2) recently, both great series.

Wellington Paranormal

Absolutely hilarious. I wish the "big boys" of the industry will pickp it up for a worldwide distribution so there'll be more and better episodes of the series per season.

Starting "Messiah" on Netflix in 3, 2 1...

Good show for now. I hope they can keep the level up. It´s super ambitious to try that out.

Well season 1 of "Messiah" behind me, two first episodes great then big period of boredom as there´s a lot of pointless talking and whining, and the last episode of season 1 really fires back and makes me eager for the second season.

Won´t go beyond that not to spoil it.

About Messiah, Eps 7 and 8 really caught my attention because of a « plot twist ».

However said Messiah is quite a bizarre character - doesn’t talk a whole lot, is super confident and when he does talk, it doesn’t mean much. In short: no one has a clue where this is all going.

No spoilers from me there but honestly he cracks me up for some reason.

Started the Japanese/British Giri/Haji police serie.

Japanese police inspector needs to do an underground investigation in London to find out why a yakuza member was killed.

New series of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' is now on Netflix in the UK - they're still all awful people and they still make me laugh so much.

Anyone seen this ???

Just finished the second season of Single Handed. Now, on to get serious with the watchign of Happy Valley. Ain't so happy, there, it'd seem!

Started watching the very last episodes of Bojack Horseman last night on Netflix. Not quite as impressed with the final season as I have been with the others - the writers want to close down all the open ends of the story and it shows.

But still enjoyable enough.
