Deutschland 89 what a major let down and a piss poor way to conclude a trilogy. After a superlative Deutschland 83 (literally 9.9 score from me) and a very solid Deutschland 86 the show writers went off the cliff. The main story line barely made any sense. The last two episode divulged into an open anti-Americanism going as far as comparing Berlin Wall to the one President Trump proposed to build on the US-Mexican border.

An independent short movie inspired by the Peter Watts' Blindsight novel. More like a trailer to would-be movie, IMHO, but still pretty effin' awesome.

Very informative and gave the catastrophe a whole new personal dimension. I was just a kid back then and we made evil jokes about a teacher gone. I was very ashamed now as it came back to memory (had totally forgotten) but we were just stupid kids and coupled it with the imagination of (insert your) hated teacher exploding.

Christa McAuliffe was a really fine person and a very dedicated teacher seemingly loving to convey knowledge to children. Very sad what happened to her.

And all of the crew were also really formidable and didn´t merit this end. A must see I would say.

Anybody started the Right Stuff yet? Hoping to start in the next few days.

Watching it as we speak. Looks very decent, very For All Mankind-ish.

Out of idle curiosity, is it solely Mercury stuff? The trailer I saw didn't appear to have any of the NACA/X-1/Yeager stuff which features in the book.

Good question. It's all pretty much Mercury in the first episode - basically a tiny bit of background story of every astronaut and their recruitment. Without spoiling it too much, there are basically only couple of short scenes which are outside of this scope, and only to serve the character development. So far, anyway. But it looks good - actors and production so far are very good. We'll see.

An Australian crime drama series in "western" setting. 1st season was great. 2nd season so-so and felt slow and drawn out despite only 6 episodes. Soundtrack and cinematography are awesome. The lead actor should have played similar role(s) in the US shows. In short, either way. Neutral rating from me.

They don´t have it on Netflix anymore. It pisses me off.
Yeah, it's on Prime. If you don't have that, but are willing to use an "illegal" stream. Checkout Fmovies.to. BE AWARE. There are popups and you should have an adblocker. Just saying... But I've used Fmovies for a few years and haven't had any issues.

Watched the first episode last night - really enjoyed it. The first meeting between Gus Grissom and Deke Slayton genuinely made me laugh out loud.

I started a spanish series called "the barrier". Another dystopian series...sigh...I guess this is all the interesting stuff on Netflix nowadays.

The preview does' nt do its justice...Strong governments emerge from massive unrest due to a world war and water shortages, and the series really begins 25 years later.

Spain is a totalitarian state, where barriers protect the capital from the the remote and more uncontrolled part of the country, and where a virus contributes in the unrest. I have to say with the restrictions due to COVID 19 that are more or less strong in places, there is a light feeling of what comes next.

First two episodes in...It' s OK although the uniforms of the higher ranking officers were probably cheap to make since they are basically the same as those of the waffen ss. The spanish "waffen ss" also behave like "waffen ss" in french WWII movies, going to bordelos and so on and being fully decadent once the uniform is off.

Yeak OK...I need Amazon prime I think

Bodyguard
with Richard Madden, Keeley Hawes, Pippa Haywood et al.
The professionality of a traumatised veteran-turned bodyguard (Madden) is tested when he's put in charge of protecting an ambitious politician (Hawes) who'd signed off on the very war which he'd been sent to fight.

I've got mixed feelings about this show. On the one hand it's well-crafted, very intense and features stunning perfomances, particularly by Madden. But two episodes in I'm not a fan of where the plot is going.

The "police state"- and "evil government"-angles have been overused by cinema and television as of late, and the arch of the protagonist's veteran buddy is just strange. So you're angry with the government throwing service members' lives away, and in order to show them you start killing service members?
