That's NOT a professional source. This is one of the bad things of the internet clueless people with an urge to be important post stuff which gets reposted and reposted and people take it as granted even if it says NOTHING and is based on selective info at best or NOTHING at worst..

He posts his opinion based on NOTHING.

Kid should go scroll tictoc vids fits better to his expertise.

God the world is lost...

Going back to the 19th century and trash everything on the way because some people don't get along with changed environments and can't adapt flexible and smart.

That's pure intelligence and win.

Dow Jones is going down and down...

Why should foreign companies set up manufacturing at all in the US?

What kind of manufacturing is envisioned how many % must be made on the US?

Any plans?

Why should companies follow Mr. Pres erratic course?

Invest billions there just so he changes his mind again?

It will be that companies will sit it out I would do that let the US consumer pay the higher price or have less choice and see what comes after Mr. Trump.

Complicated production can't be shifted over night and you need the correct people to run it with experience.

Think that is going to happen over night?

And conveniently forgetting the money services bring to the US how about equalizing that too?

EU suggests 0-0 tariffs, or retaliation. Basically creating the long-coveted transatlantic free trade zone. This has been offered multiple times in the past.

Trump will of course not agree, because he thinks American products are not competitive.

Von der Leyen offers Trump 'zero-for-zero' tariffs deal on all industrial goods
Ursula von der Leyen says she's willing to use "all instruments" available to retaliate against Donald Trump's tariffs.

"Europe is always ready for a good deal," Ursula von der Leyen says as trade tensions with the United States reach all-time high.
The European Commission has offered the United States a deal to remove tariffs on all industrial goods as part of the trade negotiations, Ursula von der Leyen has said while stressing her intention to retaliate against Donald Trump's policies should talks fail.

Trump has announced a 20% across-the-board tariff on imports from the European Union, set to take effect on 9 April. Steel, aluminum and cars are subject to a separate 25% rate. In total, over €380 billion in EU-made products will be affected.

Pharmaceuticals, copper, lumber, semiconductors and energy have been exempted.

"We stand ready to negotiate with the US. Indeed, we have offered zero-for-zero tariffs for industrial goods as we have successfully done with many other trading partners," the Commission president said on Monday afternoon.

"Because Europe is always ready for a good deal. So we keep it on the table. But we are also prepared to respond through countermeasures and defend our interests."

The "zero-for-zero" deal was offered in the past "repeatedly" for the automotive sector, von der Leyen said, "but there was no adequate reaction" from Washington.

The Commission expanded the pitch to all industrial goods in recent days as talks intensified, a spokesperson said. No further details were provided.

"We prefer to have a negotiated solution," von der Leyen said, warning her executive will use "all instruments" available to hit back "if necessary," including an anti-coercion instrument that was introduced in 2023 but which has never been triggered.

Von der Leyen described Trump's sweeping tariffs as a "major turning point for the United States" that would have "immense costs" for American consumers and businesses alike and deliver a "massive" blow to the global economy.

While Washington has described the tariffs as "reciprocal", Brussels has dismissed its logic as "neither credible nor justified".

Besides the immediate impact on EU-US trade flows, which puts billions at risk of being wiped off, the Commission is also concerned about the potential ramifications that Trump's decision will have on international commerce – in particular on Asia.

Asian countries have been hit with higher rates than the bloc: 24% for Malaysia, 26% for India, 32% for Indonesia, 36% for Thailand, 46% for Vietnam, 48% for Laos and 49% for Cambodia, among others. China was slapped with a 34% "reciprocal" tariff on top of a previous 20% rate, for a whopping 54% in total. (Beijing has already hit back.)

The levels are so prohibitive that Brussels fears Asian countries, whose economies depend on exports, will be locked out of the American market and reroute their products to Europe as an alternative. China is a particular cause of concern, as it is already under intense scrutiny for flooding the West with low-cost, heavily subsidised goods.

I believe he is saying the opposite. The 1 dollar per day jobs will be automated.

That might be a good start if it is done in good faith.

Other countries, like Australia and Singapore, are publicly disappointed but holding off on retaliatory measures for now. And some, like the Philippines, see relatively lower U.S. tariffs as an opportunity to take market share from competitors.

Dick move on our part, but really yeah... if we dont screw things up "when giants fight, its the grass that suffer" we are more like that mushroom that grows when the giants pee on the grass.

Philippine Economy 101:
- Internal consumption driven
- De coupled economy with no main trade partners bigger than 15%
- lost our manufacturing due to higher wages, unions, and electricity cost... those would be wiped out by the tariffs some are getting.
- at worst, we see a .5% impact on our economic growth, also one of the fastest in Asia.

Like I said. Now he demands reparations from Europe. For trade.

It's beyond parody horizon.

because a free trade would play very much in the hands of the EU. Americans would love a lower costing Porsche, not the same with Europeans and Fords.

Actually Ford does OK there, or used to. But that was mostly UK based Ford manufacturing.

It isn't like Ford was in the lead, but they did move units before Brexit. And also Ford cancelled a number of the models (Fiesta, Focus) most likely to sell in the EU. Baffling.

Ford and Tesla both were doing fine.

They do well, as long as they are doing products for European market.

Europe was safeguarding it's car manufacturers with 10% tariff, but so was the US, with it's 25% tariff (or was it 20%) on pickups.

From a citizen of country with no car companies, I would be very happy for 0-0 tariffs.

I believe Ford UK (and Germany by the way) didn't pay tariffs that US manufactured cars paid. They paid (pay) based on being made in UK (or Germany) and they still do based on the laws governing those areas.

Very little Ford US based manufacture makes its way into either the EU or UK. The occasional Mustang, very little else. Ford US just doesn't make vehicles that appeal in those markets.

You don't see many US style Truckosaurus in either place. And probably never will.

U see some Raptors here and there but thats it, yea. And i'd say very little part of those owning one would not really need one in terms of "working horse" like in the US. We just do not have a real market for those...or roads...

Then he'll get economic war. What's his mission gangster around and extort money for all kind of 'felt' injustices?

Will become very expensive for the average American.

Large protests against Trumps policies are already happening in the US.

Anyway..

Ford Werke have a long history in Germany.

From building the Maultier to having its factory spared by US bombers to building millions of Ford Taunus an iconic German Ford model.

Ford Capri was also nice.

We can't drive vehicles consuming 15l of fuel on a daily basis.

My father has the smallest BMW 1 series it has 122hp and just takes 4,5l.

We eat your burgers and watch your movies that's what you sell. Everyone sells what he makes best or is demanded the most.

US cars were never popular in Europe.
