This sounded like a bad idea anyway. The US can solve this domestically. Even if that is politically unpopular.

But everybody, even the UAE, telling Biden to F-off sends quite the message though.
Develop your own domestic resources? Is that the message? Because that seems like where this is headed now.

I think its only politically unpopular with the politicians, and politicians are among those that dont have to feel the pain of their stupid decisions.

I don't know what the message is. But everybody either telling him no or simply not returning his calls (in UAE's case)... I mean... Biden did proclaim "America is back", but it seems a non-negligible portion of the world just told him "yeah... no...."; his authority does not seem to be recognized or respected.

Plus there are a million tiny fidly little parts needed to keep one of these beasts in the air. Plus software updates.

OTOH Iran kept F-4 and F-14 in the air longer than anyone ever thought they could.
F4 and F14 very little software, and there will have been complete copies sent, on an obscure and hard to read format, called 5.25FD

Iran runs those birds like a museum does.

No but on 'first life' aircraft, i.e. still in warranty, the users would need to account for parts used, pretty sure Airbus track failure rates, so they would see spikes in failure rates. Older aircraft maybe, but again where are these millions of Russians flying to? These planes will be left to rot, if not returned. Would be better for Russia, long term, to return them, even if the lease companies have gone bust, fly them to the desert and store them.

Of course this assumes nothing changes, that no-one out of Putin's entourage hasnt lost a son, father, cousin in Ukraine, and takes that 10 second opportunity to do the world a favour.
I'll assume you know what are you talking about, that plane manufacturers track and regulate spare parts orders like they are cancer meds. Why would it be better to return them again?

Err yes because they are US/EU based companies and would have the S**t fined out of them if caught on-selling.
In theory yes, in reality their host countries would have to somehow replace the lost revenue (with new contracts, subsidies) from the other sanctioned customers. They probably can tolerate the loss from the Russian market, but how many customers they can afford to lose?

Do they really change a million pieces on every aircraft during it's life? I doubt it.

Sorry if this was already posted, but in Berdjansk Russians captured several UKR navy ships, patrol boats, and small fast boats. This is 3rd time in the last 8 years that Russians capture a significant amount of UKR boats. We have to include SAR ship that was captured on Snake island.
