Even North Korea has domestic flights... It won't be a big demand for flights but I'm pretty sure Russians would still want to take the plane from Moskow to Vladivostok. I meant genuine spare parts sold at inflated prices to the Russians by third parties.
You would need say an airline in the EU, to pretend the air valve failed, order one, get it delivered to them, then ship it to Russia. Then somehow Russia has to pay the airline, in EU.

So the airline, its staff, the shipper, the bank, are all breaching sanctions, trust me, not going to happen, enough to keep a fleet going.

The only parts Russia will get is cheap knockoffs from YKW.

Yes, and Russia was actually involved in setting them up – which makes their paranoid fantasies of American-funded anti-Slavic bioweapons even more ridiculous and hypocritical. They'd been set up after the fall of the Soviet Union in order to help Ukraine to safely dismantle her inherited stocks of bioweapons. Throughout the early 1990s the US was heavily involved in helping both countries – Ukraine and Russia – to get rid of large stocks of weapons of mass destruction, fearing corrupt officials could be tempted to sell them to nations like Iran. In recent years, USAID and other organisations have transformed those laboratories – quite publicly, I might add – into institutions to aid the ailing Ukrainian health system. They were actually mentioned a couple of times during the pandemic. It would appear that Ukraine used them to organise mass Covid tests.

FAMAS would be taller than him......
But if he trying to keep up with fashion, shouldn't it be an HK416A5 D14.5RS. Not only stylish, but closer to tailored to his size.

Meh, don't know much about him. He keeps getting trashed for talking to Poutine. But really, shouldn't he be talking to him. Trying to get him exit to this madness.

I realize Macron may not be the top choice for this job. But somebody has to try.

It´s good he talks to Putin.

What annoys me is is his fascination for image.

If there is one thing that is flying under the radar but not for too long imo, it is the german behaviour
When France and Italy stopped to trade luxury goods (hitting hard their industry) Germany is still selling machine-tools
Because otherwise there will be plenty of unemployement and hungry people in the cold (i am sure the Ukrainians are feeling sad)
And BTW, what is helping more russian military apparatus : Prada suits or high precision industrial tools
Signed up to buy a load of F35's in the hope that the USA saves them

Jerman's have been shocking - but then again it sorts out your real friends from just clingons

How the heck did it get there? It's far outside the range of any known Russian position inside Ukraine. Maybe Russian cells monitoring the Polish Romanian border with UAVs?

Or maybe operating from Transnistria? *though doubtful*

But yeah out of operator range (+-150km). But if turned "offline" the Orlan has an operating range +-600km, with an autonomy of 16hrs.

Interestingly enough though, the drone has no markings or identifiers.
The Orlan isn't, also, a purely military drone. Apparently it can be purchased by the public. Maybe not the broad public, but at least outside of the military world.
In which case it could have been operated by more or less anybody, even a private individual in Romania.

What about India, China and other countries from Asia and Africa who didn't implement any sanctions against Russia? Will Boeing and Airbus cut them off too if they are caught selling to the Russians (in exchange for gas or whatever they want) or turn a blind eye since they are major customers. As if morality ever stood in the way of profit.

Perhaps best/last chance for the swamp to widen the war. I'd like to see Pelosi's, Schumer's, Romney's, Graham's kids on the frontline first.

No but on 'first life' aircraft, i.e. still in warranty, the users would need to account for parts used, pretty sure Airbus track failure rates, so they would see spikes in failure rates. Older aircraft maybe, but again where are these millions of Russians flying to? These planes will be left to rot, if not returned. Would be better for Russia, long term, to return them, even if the lease companies have gone bust, fly them to the desert and store them.

Of course this assumes nothing changes, that no-one out of Putin's entourage hasnt lost a son, father, cousin in Ukraine, and takes that 10 second opportunity to do the world a favour.

Err yes because they are US/EU based companies and would have the S**t fined out of them if caught on-selling.

Plus there are a million tiny fidly little parts needed to keep one of these beasts in the air. Plus software updates.

OTOH Iran kept F-4 and F-14 in the air longer than anyone ever thought they could.
