Ukrainian governent sources claim that a Russian convoy was destroyed near Makariv on Monday night (i.e. early Monday morning), so if the town has now fallen, the Russians must have had some quick replacement in waiting. That, however, is not really what we've seen so far from their other operations across Ukraine.

On the other hand there are reports of that huge 60 km long Russian column in the Kiev area, so diverting a part of it could have done the job. But, again, the Russian command hasn't shown that much flexibility before.

The Kharkov 300! The Ukrainians yesterday expelled around 1,000 Russians who had entered Kharkov and overnight prevented Russia from re-entering the city. A really impressive defensive effort!

Yeah. Russians were going for full encirclement. But I feel their progress is considerably slower than what they had originaly planned.

It is too early to draw conclusions but IF Herson is or is about to be captured that is big deal. It is an important city, 250K residents, with a strong Russian minority. And the gate for further advance to Nikolae and then Odesa to the west or to the north. But i was wrong for Nikopole a few days ago so we have to wait to see what is happening in Herson.

According to this Indian source, the mayor of Kherson confirmed that Russian forces are setting up checkpoints in the outskirts of the city. So the video may be legit.
