RIP to the slain.

You want the average Russian to be miserable, you really think riots and revilutions from within are done by oligarchs? You want their lives so miserable that they turn agains their leaders and oligarchs. You want their lives so miserable that they mutiny or just plane desert out of hatred for the war cost.

Losing a million to an oligarch is an annoyance, losing amillion to the masses is hunger and no basic necessities... which one do you think will take to the streets?
I understand. But it takes a lot of misery for a population who's votes don't matter much, to apply pressure on a regime. Taking 4 or 5 billion dollars per month from the oligarchs might be much more effective. It also cuts out Putin's personal money, if we are to believe that he takes 10% right off the top.

One thing that puzzles me is: why does RuAF keeps on making low flybys over territories that are not safe for them...

Su27 are mostly meant for air-superiority.
Su34 are fighter-bombers.

We both saw them operate over Syria and dropping their ordinance while remaining out of reach.

So... why isn't Russia applying the same approach in Ukraine as the one applied in Syria.

As a wise man once said: "bruh...!"

Orbán, go and F*** yourself.

Because in Syria the enemy didn't have S-300 or BUK, or at least wouldn't know how to operate them?

I didn't want to get into this here, preferring for the war to end and discuss it then. But.....here it is.

ahhh, taken over, not freed. because the population there doesnt seem to like them being there very much....
Yes some of them feel safe enough to protest in front of Russian soldiers. The very calm and professional reaction of Russian soldiers was noted. Nice town 37% of the population there are Russians.

When the world's largest single-market area not only blocks your bank accounts but also tells you to otherwise "Go fark yourself", you should should know you did something completely wrong.

Like covid they were too slow to react. Then react when the cost is enormous.
Grand father who fought in WW1 used to say timing is everything. What a learning experience that was.

Yeah for now. Until they can implement very calm and professional suppression like back in Russia.

Some comments and thoughts.
It is clear to everyone here that Hungarian foreign policy (I almost wrote diplomacy) has been strongly pro-Putin. Not pro-Russia, but pro-Putin. Remember the highly questionable overhaul of the Hungarian Mi-24s, the interesting history of Hungarian metro trains, the Paks II contract, the approval of Sputnik vaccines, or even Péter Szijjártó's Druzhba order. At the press conference during the recent visit of the Prime Minister, Putin announced a bunch of new economic projects, and among my recollections there is the construction/development of a transhipment terminal in Záhony or something. At the time, I don't remember anyone saying that there were already such things, that they just had to be slapped, or that we were bordering the Ukrainians there, not the Russians, and it is hard to imagine that, with the incitement to war that was then already open, the Ukrainians would let even a box of Russian goods pass through them, especially to us, who were also crossing the Ukrainians wherever we could. It has just occurred to me that perhaps Putin had a subjugated Ukraine in mind, where such a detail could not even be considered?
Anyway, all these wonderful things that have been announced are presumably going down the drain, even perhaps Paks II, which is not going anywhere in the first place.
Then. Here are the articles as a souvenir about how Putin can bring the world to its knees with a super weapon. In this race, the Portfolio team was ahead by a long way, and we had a good laugh about it. You can also tell that the reason the readership in this group is so sane is that they can keep Russian military technology and propaganda in perspective (I'm particularly fond of the flapjack-looking Su-57 and Russian warships). But that's why I'm wondering, what's up with the sites where the main premise so far has been that the Russian military is a force of Terminators and Superman, and its technology is the envy of the lazy West? Where are the articles, comments and posts praising the Pakfa, the kindzsal missiles and the checkmate? Articles praising the Russian army that brought the West to its knees?
Where are the headlines? So far, the pictures only show a Strela-10 and an orphaned Tunguzka fired as troop air defense.
Where are the Russian propaganda videos to show the victories achieved? (Well, okay, it's not really in fashion here, but I don't see it anywhere else)

Yeah, that's my point.

Over Syria Russia flew high, over Ukraine Russia is flying low.

Though Ukraine is believed to have around 72 9K37M1 (as of 2016).
Only six S300 systems were kept in working conditions between 2004 and 2014 (40% in good condition prior to 2014), with 34 launchers in Crimea when it got seized in 2014.
And a bunch of stingers.

Yeah for now. Until they can implement suppression like back in Russia.
