I'll put this here, since Hawk surface to air missiles are seeing combat in Ukraine. First missile to missile intercept in history. I'm not sure of the date, but I'm guessing late '50's to early '60's.

Is there much to learn from these old versions? What I know of defence materiel projects, most of the know how is in metallurgy and production machinery/methods rather than the end product.

I think the plan with that was "let it drop into the sea to cover up the tracks".

Its not like Russia any time soon will be able to copy the tank.
It's not about copying, it's about dissecting it to find out how to kill it easier.
