Warfare HAMAS attack on Israel, Oct 2023 & Iran’s Proxies.

Israel’s latest list of U.S. weapons it says it needs to fight the Hamas militants includes additional Apache attack helicopters, according to Ynet.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has requested Apache attack helicopters from the United States, aiming to bolster their aerial capabilities, according to a report.

However, as per sources within the Israeli military, the request has been met with a denial from the U.S. authorities.

The request was made to the Pentagon in recent weeks, a plea echoed by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant during discussions with U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin in Israel. While the final decision on this request remains pending, Jerusalem persists in its efforts to sway the decision.

The necessity for additional helicopters stems from the intensification of IDF operations, notably in Gaza, South Lebanon against Hezbollah, and in counter-terrorism efforts in the West Bank. The existing fleet of Apache attack helicopters, managed by two flight squadrons, faces a tremendous workload.

The IDF’s operational pressure has led to unconventional measures, such as recalling retired pilots beyond the accepted age limit for combat flights. Additionally, pilots who pursued careers abroad returned to serve, undergoing refresher courses before being deployed for missions.

The denial of Apache helicopters comes amidst a significant surge in American military aid to Israel since the conflict’s outbreak. This assistance, reaching its highest level since the 1973 Yom Kippur War, includes an array of weapon systems, munitions, drones, and vital military supplies.

This aid has been instrumental in fulfilling the IDF’s operational needs across various fronts, securing critical advancements and establishing deterrence against adversaries. Without this support, Israel would have faced considerable challenges in advancing its objectives in the conflict.

A few years ago they couldn't give Apaches away and now you can't get them.

Times have changed, but most people still don't get it.

From the beginning of the conflict US has shown in fact an overwhelming and unprecedented support (except perhaps the Nickel Grass op). But US has its own understanding of reality and interests, which do not converge 100% with ours - and this is perfectly fine. The reasons for not supplying us with new Apache's can be anything at all - from something trivial like simply not having readily available platforms they can share with us without compromising their own combat readiness, to something a little more nuanced like pressuring into switching gears in the Gaza op for internal political reasons. We all are big children here (well, most of us), we all understand the rules of the game, so virtually no complaining about this in Israel.

Agree, its a nothing. The only option would be US army new builds or actual US Army inventory. The optics would be terrible. Instead spare parts will have been sent, plus weapons, plus return any israeli exchange pilots, etc. to bolster what Israel has.

A false flag from Iran could make sense though... boosting the support at home and abroad and fueling the fire of hatred against Iran's enemies. Iran can declare war, but it is always better to have public outrage as a base for it.

See the war in Gaza! Hadn't Hamas gone on a slaughter fest on oct7, the IDF steamrolling the strip wouldn't have received as much varying nuances of support

But having an antagonist targeting and striking a public gathering during a commemoration... that's scummy. There is nothing to gain either unless there is, in the crowd, that one important dude who spends his life in hiding 24/7/365 (the US carried a few strikes in Afghanistan that way).

Don't know if the some Kurdish faction or internal opposition would do that though...

I think new builds are 3-5 years out depending on how many of the 96 Guardians that Poland is approved to buy are actually placed in an executive contract. The way the world is heading, they should buy all 96 and double their money in 5 years selling them to desperate nations.:(

I have a friend who toured Israel, Egypt, and Jordan during the early post October 7th time frame. She even did the Petra and Little Petra stuff, bus rides out to the pyramids and a little floating down the Nile to Abu Simbel.
