Very curious that Trump would propose an immediate ceasefire just while the Ukrainians are getting completely battered in Kursk.

Perhaps Trump isn't the one-sided devil all the liberals think he is.

It is possible that a Ukrainian defeat in Kursk was a request from Russia to consider a cease fire.

I'm patiently waiting for Dima and Peskov to make a comment.
Trump says he'll talk to Putin today and tomorrow after he's done checking out a red Tesla Plaid in front of the WH.

It sure is quiet in this thread now, as well as all of the Ukraine War accounts on X , I follow.

Just sayin'.

Well i guess we could go back and forth about why this wasn't settled on the end of february in D.C. and be bitchy again OR hope for the best and be optimistic that this will lead to sth. fundamental for peace in the near future.

there are a lot of potential pitfalls along the way.

Yes optimistic, and Trump claims to have an understanding on or with Putin - certainly the silence from Moscow over the last few days suggests this is so.

But I still hope Europe will re-arm Ukraine, as part of the deal, for its own defence.

Although there aren't much details atm about these negotiations it seems that with talks about some sort of security guarantees a critical point from Ukraines perspective was taken into account, which makes me happy and optimistic. ...and...to follow @Chazman s wording...quiet ;)

Cautiously optimistic.

Getting Ukraine to accept a ceasefire is the easy part. Especially after having cut their intel.
