These 7th Royal Tank Regiment Matilda Mk.IIs, named ‘Gloucester’ and ‘Glanton’, were 2 of the 74 tanks part of Frankforce, the British force that counterattacked the German spearhead at Arras on May 21/22 1940. The squadron these two tanks belonged to went to detour through the forest to avoid attacks from the air, but several tanks got stuck in the mud. Subsequently, these tanks were destroyed on the spot by the crews.
