That's actually a biological female.

She just took lots of testosterone.

But that's a girl. Brazilian or something, can't remember.

Yes, all the naysayers who you (& others) contended with many years ago on this & a number of other issues. Declaring what the future would be & the consequences of allowing such debauchery & lunacy public space.
We are still here & the fall out of what they advocated is sheer klown shoes, while many of those malcontents are nowhere to be found.

You know I used to attack people for using the slippery slope "fallacy." I really regret that now that it's become abundantly clear that the "slippery slope fallacy" is actually no logical fallacy at all...

I remember someone in this thread saying this kind of surgical interventions were just akin to pornstars getting their d*cks and boobs bigger...

Any dr that engages in these surgeries or hormone treatments on anyone under the legal age should lose their medical license at a minimum.

Your memory must be failing Ivan cause it wasn't in this thread, it was in the biden thread. And it was in reply to SurfPunk talking about only being able to permanently disfigure the body your born with.
Context is important as I'm sure we would all agree.
Sure seem to be alot of porn stars that surgically disfigure the bodies they were born with......... or is that enhance? Guess it depends on your point of view.

Do i believe a 13yr old should have cosmetic surgery to change their gender, no way.
I think the mental health system and their parents are failing some of these people terribly.
But as Kiwi has said repeatedly, alot of trans people know that something is wrong for them at an early stage and wish that they could of at least been able to delay their puberty till they could make an informed decision.

In this thread or not, that is still the position you held.

And since you are talking about context, here is the full context:

not to mention the language used... "gender altering".... we dont have the ability to change your gender just yet..... what we have is the ability to permanently surgically disfigure the body you were born with.

To which you answer was "oh, just like pornstars then?" and reducing the issue to a mere "point of view" conundrum.

Except we are not talking about pornstars. But kids. And not "on tiktok", but government approved programs.

Indeed, context is important.

Well, it depends.

It is a fallacy in the sense that it happens to more wrong than right in term of outcomes. Triggering alarmist hysteria and fear-mongering as a result.
But it can also happen to be right on some occasions.

Based on a number of factors (society, norms, culture, time period, etc...) the likeliness of *event* to happen varies and in the end it turns into a game of prediction.

And though this will remain a fallacy "most of the time", it does not mean it will remain one "all of the time" with the occasional instance proving the concept wrong.

Such as the present situation concerning the whole "gender affirming" interventions, drag-show hours in schools, LGBTQetc programs in schools, etc... going from "this will never happen, there is no way it will happen" to "well S**t... would you look at that!".

There used to be a time when you could say with confidence "X will never happen because it is simply way too ridiculous and absurd" or "Y is too stupid to be true". Nowadays though? Not so much...

There is no such thing as “delaying puberty”. The process can’t be paused and then started back up again years later with no consequences. Any treatment for trans people should be limited to adults only. Anyone performing experiments on children, like using hormonal blockers without a valid medical reason, is just downright evil.
