One of the shittiest exports to ever come out of America is the idea that different demographics need "representation" in works of fiction. It might be financially sound if you're selling a product, but it's still vile stuff. If you're a, say, black woman and you can't identify yourself with the characters of e.g. Ford vs. Ferrari because they're white men, something's seriously wrong with you. The decision was made during an extraordinary general congress at the ongoing World Championships in Budapest. It means that transgender American college swimmer Lia Thomas, who has expressed a desire to compete for a place at the Olympics, would be blocked from participating in the female category.

They were adamant everything was fair, today they are adamant it was not fair.

Note the bit about going through puberty. Just to reiterate, all the trans I know wish that they had started on transitioning as early as possible. Preferably before puberty made irreversible changes.
