G'day y'all! Used to be on theMess and hopefully the community in some shape and form will survive here. Am a military historian, though I didn't serve myself. Always interested in political discussions, and history stuff.

Hello everyone, Adamicz here.
Former MP.net and TheMess member. I've never really contributed to discussions there, to be honest, but I've always enjoyed reading it regularly. On the other hand, I've been posting some of my (military-related) pics there I've taken throughout the years. Interested in Central/Eastern European armies, Photography, historic military vehicles and history as such.

Ah, I guess our TheMess community can be grateful to have found shelter in here. It will be an interesting mix with other active military members. Good to see familiar faces around.

Thank you @Jake84 , you can discuss whatever you like here, if you like political discussion then please create one that suits your needs. All we ask is that it is not produced to create discourse and that the issues are discussed respectfully without any insults and flaming

Take your pick of topics Jake . Euro elections could be a good one . I can pretty much tell you how I think the UK will go ( should we be dragged into it ) but would be interested to hear how you think the French vote will go with all the upheaval over the last 6 months or so .

Some of you seem familiar...
Started at mpnet when there was only a couple of hundred members, in early 2003.
Became a mod there not too long after and watched hood and his wife battle to keep the place alive, constantly dealing with legal claims and an increasingly puritanical advert supplier that had mrs hood comb every last post (and there was a few of them) that might cause offence.
Inevitably that wound up and we decided we weren't finished yet, but we didn't want to fall straight into hood's predicament. Hence TheMess focusing more on the geopolitical side and much much less on the photos. And while that part of the site had huge traffic, it was also where most of the nastiness resided, as people often struggle to play nice online. So time poor and not relishing all of the content that we were hosting, and advertising no longer paying the bills, we decided to wind up TheMess.
We knew facebook wasn't entirely the answer, at least 3 of the mods won't be joining us there, which is a great shame as they are 17 year old relationships that will not be the same. So we're glad that places like MI.net will attract elements of the community and keep it going.
