I figure it's meant to draw forces away from eastern and southern Ukraine. As small as these incursions are they undermine the social contract that Putin has with the russian population wherein they look away from the corruption and the dictatorial rule in exchange for safety, food and housing -> stability.
Operation Belgorad coincidentally occurs after Russians claim Bahkmut. The Ukaraine still claims they are fighting in Bahkmut. Putin's master troll brain must be exploding.
Ze scumbag in chief hath spoken and I find myself agreeing with him… Russian deserters, dismay and disarray of the lost soldiers and their families. Russia is not going somewhere pretty.
