A career served with little distinction providing hellish conditions to those who worked aboard her. A stylish but terrible ship.

USN:
USS Mahanna (AG-8) alongside at Norfolk Navy Yard, VA, 1921

Mahanna was one of several hundred wooden freighters built under the auspices of the Emergency Fleet Corporation during World War 1, being an example of EFC Design 1003 (also known as the Hough-type.)

The idea was to make a bunch of cheap, expendable freighters to carry cargo to Europe that could be built faster than German U-boats could sink them. However, the project was pretty much a waste of money, as most of the wooden ships were completed after the armistice of Nov. 11, 1918, made few, if any voyages, and were largely disposed of within a few years- they were generally poorly built, often out of green lumber that rotted quickly, had awful handling characteristics, and there was a glut of surplus merchant ships of much higher quality on the market. (The Mallow's Bay ship graveyard in Maryland contains the wrecks of some 230 of these ships that were partially scrapped.)

Mahanna was completed in 1919 and scrapped in 1923.

Parnall Peto submarine-launched naval reconnaissance seaplane with HMS M2 submarine. In 1927 the old M2 was converted into a submarine aircraft carrier and the Parnall Peto was specifically designed for them. Only 2 were built as the concept did not stick

Hands down, these ships must reclassified as Cruisers, and refit with all the surface to Air missiles possible including the ones that can hit satellite..and balloons
