This is the ninth iteration of Talisman Sabre, a large-scale, bilateral military exercise between Australian and the U.S. involving more than 17,000 participants from seven nations. The month-long multi-domain exercise consists of a series of training events that reinforce the strong U.S./Australian alliance and demonstrate the U.S. Military’s unwavering commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific.
RN:

All three submarines were members of the U class. Originally designed as unarmed training vessels, the initial batch were modified prior to construction with torpedo tubes to allow them to conduct offensive operations.
The later batches were further modified to make them more suitable for this new role due to the beginning of hostilities.
They were liked for their manoeuvrability and ease of construction, with 49 boats being commissioned in total.

First Russian nuclear submarine K-3 Leninskiy komsomol prepared for transfer from Severodvinsk to Kronstadt. It is supposed to take place in Navy museum there after repair and restoration works.
Canada, Norway & France:
The CH-148 Cyclone deployed with SNMG1 Flagship HMCS Halifax, callsign Kingfisher, conducts a hoist exercise with Norwegian submarine HNoMS Utvaer, with French frigate FNS Alsace seen in the background, during exercise DYNAMIC MONGOOSE 21 on July 4. The exercise, hosted by Norway and Iceland, takes place with NATO allies each summer in the High North.
Imperial Japan:
Kure Naval Arsenal. Captain Egashira Yasutarō issues orders to petty officers and crewmen of the newest armoured cruiser Ikoma some days prior to her commissioning on March 24, 1908.
