It is a difficult position to be in. Saudi Arabia no longer wants anything to do with it after their hapless "coalition" failed due to Iran arming and supporting the Houthis, and the determination of the Houthis themselves. Other nations whose life blood is oil from the region will not take a hand even though they have the capacity to do so. Russia benefits from this, and the Chinese, while loathing the Houthis, will never join in openly siding with U.S. interests.
The Houthis brag that their cheap drones are just as good as an F-15 which is not exactly true, but close enough in a conflict like this. The West should use their considerable lead in technology to develop, produce and deploy drones in such numbers that it will be difficult to stroke a goat let alone deploy missiles and drones in Houthiville.
Unlike F-35s, Tomahawks, Hellfires etc the production facilities can be relatively easier to build and operate. If this makes too much sense, then it will never get done.
The other thing that needs to be addressed is Iran, but the only way they will be dealt with is if the U.S. chooses to do it, and the poor choices in Afghanistan and Iraq make that a faint proposition.
Precisely.
Sure it makes for a good and impressive "that will show them" move, but is it really meaningful?
Does not seem to be the case.
That kind of approach the US is having at the moment is like trying to get rid of brambles by cutting what's above the ground, and leaving the roots undisturbed.
