A nice image of the German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen at anchor. The photo was taken in 1945 while the cruiser was anchored off of Spithead, England. Her crew, comprised of sailors from the United States and German navies, were preparing to take the cruiser across the Atlantic to the East Coast of the United States.

In the photograph, Spanish soldiers of the Blue Division line up behind the front lines, preparing for the Battle of the important Soviet city of Leningrad.
The Spanish legion, with nearly 50,000 troops, was renowned for its combat effectiveness, achieving seemingly impossible victories, such as successfully defending against a Soviet force nearly seven times its size in the harsh winter of 1943.
