There's more clearance around them than there is between the rear door and rear stowage bins of the Warrior infantry variant and if you're trying to look round the sides you won't be doing it 8 foot above ground level unless you're on a hover board.

Exercise Formidable Shield 2019, a live-fire integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) exercise conducted by Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO on behalf of U.S. 6th Fleet, started May 7, 2019 at the U.K. Ministry of Defense’s Hebrides Range in the vicinity of the Western Isles of Scotland.

The purpose of Formidable Shield is to improve allied interoperability in a live-fire integrated air and missile (IAMD) environment, using NATO command and control reporting structures.

Nine nations - including Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States – are contributing 13 ships, more than 10 aircraft, and approximately 3,300 personnel to the exercise. Belgium and Germany will support the exercise with staff officers embarked with Task Group IAMD.

HMS Defender carried out a series of exercises to enhance her Ship boarding sklls, the training took place ahead of their deployment to the Middle East later in the year. HMS Defender departs Norway to undertake Sea Training

Its not a door I'd want to spend my day constantly getting in and out of, I wonder if it come with a foot stool?

Agreed mate, with all the tech that has gone into this kit they have settled on a small ladder from B&Q

It seems strange to me they went for the small troop door over the Ramp with built in troop door that is on other wagons in the ASCOD range. I suppose they wanted a clear delineation between the Warrior and AJAX and their roles.

I've never seen one of those before, great looking bit of gear. I see none of the 5 survivors are flight-worthy, that's a shame.

Well the one at Bruntingthorpe that is supposed to fast taxi only caused quite a stir when it did get airborne a few years back!

Also spent a horrible weekend polishing the victor gate guardian at Marham when I was a naughty sprog years ago...!!! A lot of polishing!

Love the designs of these early Cold War era UK aircraft.

Yeah, the British aircraft designers of this era had a certain style that you hardly won't find anywhere else. E. g. integrating the jet engines into the wings instead of mounting them externally continued into the late sixties (Nimrod).

Nimrod was effectively the old Comet jetliner with new(er) interiors so it was a 50s design too.

I had a few flights in them back in the day and they were still pretty basic inside...
