Is the Army still looking at dropping the 7.62 Rifle and Minimi within Infantry sections? I remember it was a course of action they were looking at a few years back.

I'm sure I just saw something on a new 7.62 DM rifle.

It was one per section when I left in 2015. Could've changed though.

I can't remember where I read it but in an ADF/Army article from a couple years back it mentioned with the adoption of the EF88 and an enhanced 62gr projectile there would no longer be the requirement for 7.62mm weapons at section level. I also seem to remember talk of removing belt feds in general at section level. Could have just been the great ideas club at work again though.

I reckon tranche 2 of Land 159 has all 3 types of machine guns covered, LMG, MMG and HMG. Where they employ them, is another story all together. With 3, 6 and 7 having 30mm cannons sooner rather than later and 1, 5 and 8/9 having what ever they can strap on a CROWs mount on a PMV, maybe they start thinking they don't need dismount belt fed weapons. I fear that would only last until the first contact though.
I don't think they've even nailed down section sizes yet, is it 6 in the back and 3 crewies, or are they squashing 8 in and the crew?

I haven't seen what the capability requirement is for the IFV for dismounts. That being said the KF41 version of the Lynx being trialed in phase 3 has seating for 8 dismounts and 3 crew vs 6 and 3 for the smaller KF31. Either way it will mean a change in org.
