All that money effort and lives. Still, better now than a year or 6 years or whatever, as it will be same downside... except more money effort and lives.

Sad in some respect but I'm generally happy to see this even if there's enormous risks right now. US is selling that dodgy car and cutting their losses, good for them.

Many years ago, Germany's then minister of defence said in a widely criticised interview that "our freedom is defended on the Hindukush, too". He wasn't wrong. The withdrawal, seemingly without alternative though it may be, will see Afghanistan become a hotbed of Islamic terrorism once more and displace millions. How many refugees will the Americans take in, I wonder?

Considering how fast the Talibans seem to be "clearing house"? Not that many.

And those who worked with the Coalition (translators mostly) seem to have a sword of Damocles hanging by a thread over their heads.

Why werent there at least some drones for the army? They pretty much kick ass on all ocasions with not a lot of personel?
