In 2018 – at the height of "Me Too" – Austrian film star Florian Teichtmeister claimed he saved a female colleague from a molesting director by threatening he'd beat him up if he didn't leave her alone. The media praised him as "one of the good guys", and Teichtmeister did not hesitate to put himself in the limelight accordingly. And now, five years later, he's been charged with domestic violence, drug offences and posessing no fewer than 58.000 files of child pornography. As if that wasn't enough, the allegations against Teichtmeister had been known within Austria's culture industry since 2021; but the same folks who yell "believe women" happily believed his defence that he'd been wrongly accused by a disgruntled ex-girlfriend.
