Immortal Classic

People says The Irishman is wunderbar but honestly I’m not sitting in front of my TV for over three hours. Or it better keep me entertained throughout...

My wife bailed after a half hour, but after two hours I figured I had too much invested in it to not finish. It's probably not a movie you'd want to watch more than once.

'True Grit'
with Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Hailee Steinfeld et.al.
After her father's killer has taken refuge in a lawless region, a strong-willed teenager (Steinfeld) enlists the help of two very contrastive lawmen (Bridges, Damon) to track him down.

Such a well-crafted, well-acted and beautifully-shot movie with both serious undertones and hilarious situational comedy. Bridges as the cantankerous ageing reprobate is just fun to watch, and I can't believe Steinfeld didn't get an oscar for her perfomance. I'd never thought much of child actors; guess I was wrong.

★★★★★★★★☆☆ 8/10.

Oi Elizabeth Banks and Tim Miller, I thought men shouldn't be able to enjoy a strong female character. What happened?

Watched it last night, Muck. It is well crafted and well acted, for sure. I'm not sure I liked it better than the original from 1969 with John Wayne, though.

I started binge watching Generation Kill. I have no idea why I didn't watch it when it came out. Lots of grunt speak, grunt humor, small unit politics, etc. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it.

I had the fortune yesterday to watch "the Irishman" on Netflix at my girlfriend's house, the movie is spectacular, the special effects are very good, the story is captivating.
Then, I was able to see "the knights of heaven" again, the French Mirage 2000 film, she loved it, I wasn't very convinced at the beginning, but she liked it until the end.

Pretty cool movie. If you know the story of Charlie Manson, Sharon Tate, etc., the ending is interesting.

I saw this on HBO GO a year ago or so. It was my first viewing and I loved it as well.

It's not a bad book if you're inclined to turn a page or two.

Just watched the 1966 French movie, Battle for Algiers. (Engrish subs) I've read the war in Algeria was very brutal on both sides, and the movie certainly portrayed that.

I recommend "Lost Command" with a joint American/French cast. The movie audio is in English. It´ was a controversy because condemning torture by French troops.

Anthony Quinn, George Segal, and Alain Delon make a great cast...not to mention the actress playing Aicha...(Claudia Cardinale)

The war in Algeria was all but necessary, Algerians deserved their independence and the bloodshed on either side wasn't needed.

Unfortunately France then thought sending many troops could end the “troubles” and eventually this lasted for eight years.

Brutality was on both side and I heard horror stories from every parties involved, just a pointless war anyway. Like Morocco and Tunisia they should have been granted independence without going full on “tit for tat”.
