An F9F-2B Panther assigned to Fighter Squadron (VF) 837 pictured just after taking the cut to recover on board the carrier Antietam (CVA 36). A Naval Air Reserve squadron based at Naval Air Station (NAS) Floyd Bennett Field, New York, VF-837 was recalled to active service during the Korean War, flying missions from Antietam during the period September 1951-May 1952.

Lockheed F-80C-10-LO Shooting Star, 49-1826, of the 80th Fighter Bomber Squadron, 8th Fighter Bomber Wing, is similar to the F-80C-10-LO, 49-1830, flown by Major Loring. (U.S. Air Force)

Most of the news agencies promoted it like that but no. Here is the real Ayla, waiting on a lunch line with the Turkish Soldiers. (Taken from the personal archives of Iclal-Tunca Örses)

Turkey has also established an elementary school and orphanage for the war orphans which later Ayla was attended. The story of the rest of them remains untold. ( again taken from the personal archives of Iclal-Tunca Örses)
