First picture ever recorded of a Harpoon missile being fired in combat.
Fired from the USS Bagley FF1069 at the Iranian ship Joshan in 1988, during Operation Praying Mantis.

This pic is the first pic (I took it) of a ship launched Harpoon fired in actual combat. It appeared on the (back?) cover of I think Surface Warfare Magazine. Fired from USS Bagley FF 1069 at PTG Joshan. I score it a hit, even though it pretty much flew through what was left of the PTG! That was an amazing day. Our 5" 54 broke (both sides) and a machinist had to literally make a part using scrap metal and the broken part as a template. His efforts got "Lefty" up one sided so we could continue the fight.
