INDIAN OCEAN (Feb. 2, 2021) An F/A-18F Super Hornet, from the “Fighting Redcocks” of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 22, launches from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). Nimitz is part of the Nimitz Carrier Strike Group and is deployed conducting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts. PHILIPPINE SEA (Feb. 2, 2021) Marines from Force Reconnaissance Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF), utilize combat rubber raiding crafts to approach the Ohio-class guided-missile submarine USS Ohio (SSGN 726) during an integration exercise off the coast of Okinawa, Japan. KINGS BAY, Ga. (Feb. 1, 2021) The Ohio-class ballistic-missile submarine USS Tennessee (SSBN 734) enters the Trident Refit Facility, Kings Bay, Georgia, dry dock for an extended refit period (ERP). RAF LOSSIEMOUTH, Scotland (Feb. 1, 2021) Sailors, assigned to "Golden Eagles" of Patrol Squadron (VP) 9, conducts routine maintenance on a P-8A Poseidon aircraft. VP-9 is currently forward deployed to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations and is assigned to Commander, Task Force 67, responsible for tactical control of deployed maritime patrol and reconnaissance squadrons throughout Europe and Africa. U.S. Sixth Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts a full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied and interagency partners, in order to advance U.S. national security interests and stability in Europe and Africa.
