Politics Shortages all around the world

I struggled to find some decent vodka before Christmas... Had to buy French, but at least it was reduced.
Saw a price tag today of EUR 1.99 for a 330 ml bottle of locally brewed beer. That's almost a 100% increase compared to, say, October, so I was like wtf?! ? On the other hand, the big brands seem to hoard all the resources since their prices are still around 80-90 cents.

Thing is, I cannot see anyone reducing prices once supply comes back on tap

Not been to wood yard yet this year to update my price's spreadsheet, but I think I am in for a shock - most stuff doubled in price last year - although I must say the quality was a bit better

Still *issed off we are paying VAT at 20% on everything - one thing we did not get rid of when we left the EU

We have a saying here: "Why butcher a cow that you can milk?" Additional income through taxes is always welcome at the treasurer's office, and BoJo would have shot himself in the foot by abolishing his third-largest source of revenue.

We have gone from a buyers market, to a seller's market, its been a very very long time since we had a sellers market.

But yes, if your buying wood, its going to sting, more than a little.

Burnt about 150-200 in October - still got about 50 left on the nursery - every time we have compost or anything delivered it comes on a pallet, and they crane it in - I just use them until they disintegrate (found another pile of 10 the other day sheeted over that next doors k-rend had been delivered on)

Even the bulk bags of aggregate sometimes come on pallets, as they don't trust the bulk bags when they are craning them in

What we call softies get treated with little care, but CHEPs are like gold. Jealously protected, if we have to leave them somewhere, they're recorded on a exchange system, or on a register if they're not a CHEP client and collected sooner rather than later.

I received email from Woolworths supermarket management two days ago.
It was "happy new year" and apologies about products shortages.
When you’re shopping with us at the moment, you might unfortunately have noticed gaps on shelf, or substitutions in your online order. Unlike the surge buying of early 2020 (who could forget the toilet paper), this is because of the number of people in our supply chain in isolation – from suppliers to truck drivers and distribution centre team members – which in turn is causing material delays to store deliveries. To give you a sense of the magnitude of the challenge, we are experiencing COVID-driven absences of 20%+ in our distribution centres and 10%+ in our stores.

We've had shortages of pretty much everything the last few days. Milk and orange juice have been completely wiped out. A large portion of that is due to the two winter storms that have come through in the last week but this is the worst that my wife and I have ever seen.

1,68€ a liter for S95-E10.

For our American members, where it’s much cheaper as we all know; imagine if you’d have to pay nearly $10 for a gallon.

Refueling has become quite expensive.

Personally I’m affected like every dude that has a car but fortunately I don’t drive that much. Within a 15km range most of the time.

Still, the rest of the country and the world, on top of this skyrocketing general food and goods inflation has on top of that the tremendous cost of fuel and gas.

The sole grocery shortage here is still liverwurst for some odd reason. Plenty of milk, bread, TP and other common supplies.

I've heard of meat shortages, but local groceries buy local animals from local packing plants and do cutting & wrapping themselves.

Now if I could just buy gunpowder & primers...

Son had to scrounge in the rubbish bin of the mega building supply store to get a bit of gib board. Dry wall for yanks.

Taxcindy and the rest of her never had a real job cronies will carry on oblivious.

China resumes lockdowns the war, OPEC hates Biden.
All man made.
I got a free roll of ebay diamond film worth several hundred bucks. Launched an inquiry near the end of the extended limit. Some two months or so these days. It had become totally lost. When you see highways in the US full of raided parcels. So many that the robbers simply have run out of time to load them with bobcats into their trucks. Its believable it was "lost".
This roll arrives a month latter.
Ordered a game call.... Its been a month now. Used to be a couple of weeks and reliably arrived.

My supplier for work told me yesterday that the estimated wait time for new very ordinary Cisco switches was approx 375 days. Nothing special, just 48 port POE gigabit switches.

I just cancelled a large laptop order I made with Lenovo in October as the ETA went from February to March to June to July.

We're short of lots of things at work these days. IT can't get us new computers, with any new hire getting whatever can be scrounged. On the finished product side, we're short of water pumps that we need for our finished product, just plain simple water pumps. Steel shortages are still rampant and we can't quote new, simplified designs because the re-quotes always end up being more than the original design, even though they're cheaper in terms of labor and material.

Yeah, we had to put through a price increase of 18% last month, im sure it won't be the last.
