At least we are getting to the gist of issue. 20 or 40 either is amazing, and they definitely got some live missiles, and all of it irreplaceable. It seems that the claimed 41 aircraft destroyed is more like around 20. Still significant but probably not crippling for Russia. You can see lots of drones missed due to a lost or weak signal. You have to wonder how AI controlled drones would have performed here.
As far as Putin goes, it's apparent that he still feels he can win in Ukraine with a grinding, bloody war of attrition, or he pretends to. Putin has great domestic power, but not absolute power. How does he explain to his state apparatus that his war has cost 1 million Russian casualties and yet Russia does not control Ukraine? He must continue the meat grinder or show a way, even falsely so, that he has snatched a great victory.
Honestly, I don't know where this goes from here.
As to Putin, I dont think anyone on here can know his situation. so far the people and the elite have backed him. But that was without the US president calling for peace. All sides were ok with the situation, even Ukr as it was getting enough weapons and cash to keep going, wasnt losing, was building up its industry and weapons. Now We have trump calling for talks, Ukr dropping visible defeats onto the Russians, 5K a week dead.
Dictators, its tends to be pretty quick at the end, look at Syria - years in power, years in civil war, winning - then bam your running for your life. If either the people or the elite decide Putin is not ok, then it could change quickly. Also lets say the elite decide peace is a good idea, the easy way is to kill of Putin, blame him, hold a 'free' election, and pick the next potato farmer from Kaliningrad.
