It seems that the claimed 41 aircraft destroyed is more like around 20. Still significant but probably not crippling for Russia. You can see lots of drones missed due to a lost or weak signal. You have to wonder how AI controlled drones would have performed here.

As far as Putin goes, it's apparent that he still feels he can win in Ukraine with a grinding, bloody war of attrition, or he pretends to. Putin has great domestic power, but not absolute power. How does he explain to his state apparatus that his war has cost 1 million Russian casualties and yet Russia does not control Ukraine? He must continue the meat grinder or show a way, even falsely so, that he has snatched a great victory.

Honestly, I don't know where this goes from here.
At least we are getting to the gist of issue. 20 or 40 either is amazing, and they definitely got some live missiles, and all of it irreplaceable.

As to Putin, I dont think anyone on here can know his situation. so far the people and the elite have backed him. But that was without the US president calling for peace. All sides were ok with the situation, even Ukr as it was getting enough weapons and cash to keep going, wasnt losing, was building up its industry and weapons. Now We have trump calling for talks, Ukr dropping visible defeats onto the Russians, 5K a week dead.

Dictators, its tends to be pretty quick at the end, look at Syria - years in power, years in civil war, winning - then bam your running for your life. If either the people or the elite decide Putin is not ok, then it could change quickly. Also lets say the elite decide peace is a good idea, the easy way is to kill of Putin, blame him, hold a 'free' election, and pick the next potato farmer from Kaliningrad.

So now we have some idea.

Do we?
When is this mysterious deadline crossed?
Two weeks ago, Trump said he'd give Putin two weeks to signal his intentions. I'd say Putin has made his intentions known many times throughout those two weeks. What is Trump waiting for?

It's now the fifth time that he's threatened a tough response without actually following through. I genuinely don't understand what makes y'all so confident that this time everything will be different.

its the only game in town, for now.

Trump is trying to be even handed, if you start from Russia is bad, your not going to get very far.

We just have to see what happens. At the same time, we have changes eleswhere, like germany, so this - when or if Trump decided the issue is Putin, could lead us to a different place than Biden and whoever the last german leader was(??) etc.

Allegedly, the Orcs launched an Oreshik ICBM, but it disintegrated over Kazakhstan:

It's hard to know what sort of calculus is going on in Putin's head. But all cannot be peachy in Russia. Certain people may be asking, what is the end game here? One million casualties is a lot for what they have to show. Would they be willing to double that? Triple? Quadruple, in order to take Ukraine. I realize they are not sensitive to the death and destruction, but at some point the math just doesn't work.

Putin had a chance to do a pretty reasonable deal weeks ago. That time has passed. So....what's next?

Congress and senate are ready to pass the sanctions..its only Trump. While being a very good domestic politcal operator his knowledge beyond in respect to Ukraine is a novice level.
The Kursk surrounded and cut intel said it all.
Whatever Trump supplies is a pure suprise rather than a design.

This is why they are so nostalgic about life 40 years ago, the special operation was the masterpiece revival, instead a Mexican day of the dead party.

Clearly, it isnt the only game in town. The last attack by Ukraine was an example of that.

Trump is trying to be even handed is the problem....
1. Russia is the aggressor and needs to be hurt real bad or mortaly
2. and Russia is really bad

Trump being neutral about is the reason why Russia actually thinks it can win.
