Support Brazil to intervene, with USAF providing recon data etc.

But yes, Russia trying anything to de-stabilise the west.
Brazil has a strict policy of non-intervention embedded in it's constitution. The person calling the shots, the president, shares his political ideology with his counterpart in Venezuela.

I consider it far more likely that Brazil supports Venezuela (politically) in an effort to degrade US influence in America's Backyard.

As the most westernised member of BRICS you don't cosy up to China and Russia for no reason.

Putler and Shoigu now talking about active defense in Awdiivka. Not an offensive encircling move.

This lowers expectations. On the other hand massive losses when defending. Not so good for the massively increased powerful army of Ruzzia getting entangled and beaten badly trying to perform a classic pincer movement.

If they don't even manage this, it shows they completely lost any larger tactical cababilities.

RuZZias army is hungry needs more bodies it seems. +170000 according to Putlers latest numbers. Will then stand at 1.23 mill or so.

Footage of an attack by two Ukrainian FPV drones on a homemade Russian robotic platform has been published. The video was filmed in the Avdeevsky direction; a Russian tracked drone was used to deliver ammunition and food in the most dangerous directions, where the use of conventional transport is too risky. The Russian drone is equipped with the Volnorez electronic warfare system, which we previously talked about. At the time of the attack, the Breakwater electronic warfare system was not installed on the tracked drone.

Less attacks here.

Conflicting report with the below but they could also match e.g less stamina after many waves of attack + Putler needs an Endsieg to survive eventually.

Two new directions of attack could be a sign of "take the town at any cost"

Anyway the picture here again is that of a degraded military not able to perform tactic operations with acceptable losses and on a timely scale.

White House says funding for Ukraine support 'will run out by end of year' - Financial Times.

"If Congress continues to fail to act, we will run out of resources by the end of the year to purchase new weapons and equipment for Ukraine, as well as to provide equipment from U.S. military stockpiles. There is no magic funding source that can help in this case. We are out of funds and almost out of time" Shalanda Young, director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, wrote to party leaders in the US Congress.

Pretty simple solution. And the White House knows what it is.

According to our defense minister Antti Häkkänen Finland starts manufacturing artillery shells for Ukraine. This is also meant to increase our artillery shell production in a significant way. Nammo Lapua was mentioned as an artillery shell producer in Finland, so assumedly they are increasing their volumes and capabilities. Häkkänen hopes that the Finnish example will make other countries fulfill their promises about increasing artillery shell production.

This is nice news on the eve of our independence day.

Alexander Graf Lambsdorff is Germanys new ambassador in RuZzia. Good choice I might add.

Putins mimimi at the inauguration

Moscow. At the inauguration of new ambassadors in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin lamented the end of the long economic cooperation with Germany following the start of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine. "This cooperation was literally blown up - among other things by the sabotage of Nord Stream," Putin told the new German ambassador in Moscow, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff.

The relationship between Berlin and Moscow was frozen "not on our initiative", Putin complained in his speech in the Kremlin, which was broadcast on state television on Monday evening.

The 71-year-old blamed the German government for a new ice age, which was not beneficial for Germany, Russia or the entire European continent. Russia had always been a reliable energy supplier and was ready to resume relations, Putin emphasized.

Saluschnyj allegedly stopped the summer offensive after 4 days.

Smart man the general. He didn't have enough firepower to do that.

Maybe eventually they'll get that though.

Avdiivka

Ukrainian and Russian forces in intense fighting around Avdiivka. Russians consolidate positions, while Ukraine can partially advance.

According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) report, the Ukrainians recently launched a counter-offensive near the town of Avdiivka and recaptured the territory they had lost by December 1. Video footage from December 4 indicates that Ukrainian forces are advancing against Russian positions in a wooded area south of Stepove.

Russians are also advancing
At the same time, the Russian army moved offensively on the Avdiivka frontline on December 4 and has made confirmed progress. Video footage shows that Russian troops have advanced around a water reservoir north of Avdiivka. In addition, Russian troops have expanded their positions near Stepove (5 km northwest of Avdiivka), reports Ukrainska Pravda.

Russians consolidate positions near Stepove
Russian military bloggers claim that the Russian army has consolidated control over positions in and around Stepove. One of them stated that the Russians had advanced 600 meters into the forest belt southeast of Stepove. They also reported intense fighting near the Avdiivka Koke and chemical plant and in the industrial zone southeast of Avdiivka.

Russian attacks repelled
Despite Russian claims that volunteer units from Nizhny Novgorod were operating in the industrial zone of Avdiivka, the Ukrainian General Staff reported unsuccessful Russian offensives east of the settlements of Novokalynove (10 km northwest of Avdiivka) and Novobakhmutivka (10 km northeast of Avdiivka), as well as near Avdiivka itself, Stepove, Pivnichne (5 km west of Avdiivka) and Pervomaiske (10 km southwest of Avdiivka).
