There's a reason Russia hasn't returned the wreck and that is not to hide any evidence of assassination, but to fuel our governments theory (mainly Law and Justice, PiS) that the leading opposition party (Civic Platform, PO) has arranged a deal with Russia to kill Kaczynski. Flawless logic:
- Kaczynski died in Russia,
- Russian killed Kaczynski,
- Russians don't want to return the wreck,
- Russians want to hide the evidence.
The "assassination theory" was the main driving force for hardline PiS supporters during the 2015 election when PiS came to power. That's why it's been 13 years and PiS still hasn't closed the investigation, despite the fact that the final report from the incident was published in July 2011.

Every 10th of the month is a monthly anniversary of the Smolensk crash for PiS supporters. This includes government officials.
The whole reason why Kaczynski flew to Smolensk was that he wanted to make it before then current PM Donald Tusk from PO made it there. After the crash, when Putin met Tusk on site PiS used that to start the whole "Putin and Tusk are smiling, their plan succeeded" theory that started this shitshow.

Which led to the most obvious conclusion - do NOT put most important people in the state on the same f#$%ing flight. Something that was then blatantly ignored in case of TU-154's flight to Smolensk.
As long as Poles are fighting internally between themselves Russia is happy. They know how to play us like a fiddle.
