This satellite image collected Nov. 19 via the WorldView-1 satellite shows China’s first domestically built aircraft carrier shortly after arriving in port near the Yulin Naval Base on Hainan island, China. The carrier has been referred to as Type-001A. It was sailing through the Taiwan Strait on Nov. 17. Seven Shenyang J-15 fighter aircraft can be seen on the deck of the carrier along with several helicopters, their blades stowed in a travel position. (Maxar Technologies)

Great CG found on twitter of the future PLAN CV. Chinese boards are claiming this ship may be nuclear powered and have emals catapults. Gotta wait and see. This ship has been under construction since FEB. 2017 in Shanghai.

Setting the geopolitical conflict of the South China Sea aside, I got to say that is one very clean and beautiful ship. Is it bad if I say that I can't wait to see photos of it during its commissioning ceremony? :P

I don't think so. It probably won't be commissioned until 2022...It is impossible to get any close up photos of the ship during construction. All I've ever seen is fuzzy aerial photos of the ship.

A very American look to the architecture and air wing composition on these CGIs. I read a report recently that it will be conventionally powered and the PLAN will limit this class to 2 from the original 4 planned. The PLAN is finding carrier operations to be very expensive and FAR more complex than expected.
