The term chicom is derogatory to the Chinese people. For those of you that do not know a Chicom is a Chinese Communist. Only "political officers", , assigned to military units are official members of the Chinese Communist Party...and many of those political officers have been removed from their position due to corruption.

Believe it or not the US has had many training operations with the Chinese, Mostly dealing with humanitarian relief efforts, damage control and anti-piracy efforts....

Lets see ,I know they've had training with Nepal.. and Pakistan....

DOUALA, CAMEROON, June 14 (ChinaMil) -- The 28th escort taskforce of the Chinese PLA Navy left the Douala Port on June 14 after a three-day friendly visit to Cameroon.

During the visit, the commanding officer of the taskforce called on the military and government officials of Cameroon. The sailors of the two navies conducted professional exchanges on such topics as escort operations, equipment maintenance and so forth at the Douala Naval Base.

The PLA Navy's special operations detachment also showcased some special operations equipment to Cameroon peers and performed and grappling wrestling techniques as well as traditional Chinese martial arts.

Meanwhile, the Chinese naval escort taskforce held deck reception, cross deck visits, sports competitions and other activities.

The extensive, in-depth, candid and practical multi-level exchanges deepened understanding and enhanced friendship between the two navies and also expanded the PLA Navy's influence and demonstrated its image.

It is learnt that the 28th Chinese naval escort taskforce will carry out a joint maritime drill with the Cameroon Navy after the visit and then head to Gabon for a friendly visit.

Warships require a tremendous amount of upkeep & upgrading of systems. As for CV-16 she's not been out of the water for four years. So here hull needs reconditioning.

The Flight deck probably needs resurfacing. And hablity, living conditions, always needs an upgrade.

As an example US Navy carriers go thru the same thing. My grandson ship, Nimitz, completed a deployment in November and is now in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and will remain there until May 2019.

In another forum someone asked about the white ship hull # 89 n this photo..they thought is was a cruise ship..nope!....that is a barracks ship with full emininites.

16 JAN 2018...China's 2nd homegrown barracks ship has arrived in Dalian city of north-eastern China's Liaoning Province to meet with China's 2nd aircraft carrier, according to recent reports.

As a unique type of warship in the aircraft carrier vessels battle groups (CVBG) of the PLA Navy, the ship has very advanced living support facilities including plastic runway, basketball court, gym, arena, Internet cafe and supermarket.

The ship is mainly used for accommodation for crew members, pilots, aviation crews and engineering and technical personnel during sea trial periods. It is a military quasi-luxury cruise ship.

The performance of the new barracks ship is similar to that of ship XuXiake (Hull 88), a China's first homegrown barracks ship commissioned in 2011.

XuXiake ship is about 219 meters long, 28 meters wide and has a draft of 8 meters with full loaded displacement of nearly 30,000 tons and maximum speed of 17 knots (1 knot equals to 1 nautical mile/hr), and its maximum range is 8,000 nautical miles.

In addition, XuXiake ship is equipped with two 57 mm twin-barreled naval guns, two 30 mm twin-barreled naval guns and two rockets launcher systems. The helicopter platform of the ship can carry one Z-8 medium transport helicopter.

The new barracks ship is designed to support 2,500 people for 30 days at sea before needing resupply.

The barracks ship can also be deployed as a training ship when necessary. XuXiake ship is equipped with a large number of simulators similar to those in Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning. The sea trial data of the aircraft carrier Liaoning can be transmitted to various devices on the barracks ship through data links for trainees to carry out simultaneous simulation.

Yes it does..here's a Jaguar in Indian AF colors;



Even though the Chinese built the first aircrfat in 1988. The JH-7 did not be come operational until 2004. The first prototype aircraft used imported Rolls-Royce Spey Mk.202 engines, later replaced by a license-built copy, the WS-9. Read about the aircraft here;

FAC (Fast Attack Craft) Type 22 patrol boats.

China built 83 of these boats but they have already retired about 20+ them in recent years. 60 boats remain in service.





Type 22 (NATO designation: Houbei class) missile boat is a ship class in the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy.
The Type 22 is designed to patrol China’s coastal areas and operate within its littoral zone.
The first boat was launched in April 2004 by the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard at Shanghai.
The ship is armed with eight anti-ship missiles (AShM). It is also armed with possible QW class MANPAD missiles and one licensed copy of KBP AO-18 6-barrel 30 mm gun (AK-630).
The boats incorporate stealth features and are based on Australian-designed wave-piercing catamaran hulls that are more stable than other fast missile craft in high sea conditions.
In addition to the stealthy polygonal-designed superstructure with its stealthy gun mount, the Type 22 has an advanced C4 (Command, Control, Communication, and Computers) datalink that may represent some kind of capability to allow AWACS planes or other ships to vector the Type 22’s missiles. The aluminium hull is reported to use friction stir welding.

The ships are 20 long tons (224 t) full load and are 42 meters long.

They have a top speed of 36 knots

The International Army Games 2018 began on Sunday with four contests in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and Fujian province.

Seventeen teams comprising 358 soldiers from 11 countries are participating in the contests, which will conclude on Aug 11. Some other countries sent observers to the events.

The International Army Games were co-organized by China, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Iran this year. China has taken part in the games for five years, and hosted some of the contests last year.
