On November 4, 2021, the Pakistani Coast Guard received the second 1,550-ton medium patrol ship PMSS Kolachi (number 144), built at the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KSEW) with technical assistance from the PRC.
In June 2015, the Pakistani Ministry of Defense signed a $ 130 million contract with the China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC) to build two medium 1,550 ton and four small 600 ton patrol ships for the Pakistan Coast Guard, with one medium and three small ships were built in the PRC, and one ship of each type is to be built with Chinese technical assistance in Pakistan at the Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KSEW).
The lead patrol ship Kashmir (hull number 143) was handed over to Pakistan in July 2018.
