Is three planes a big loss? Can India sustain that loss? I do not know.

Also, how big was the overall engagement? 12 plane operation and they lost a quarter of the force? 120 planes and they lost a few percent?
I think it depends on who's standards you are applying. Neither country produces top notch aircraft of their own, so have to buy them in. That said the Truman has lost 2 x F18 in 2 weeks.

I'm not sure I'd be too keen as a pilot to risk it all to teach the neighbours a bit of a lesson, when they could have just fired arty at each other all day and called it quits.

They could just ask to be re-equipped with F-35s instead ... 😏

"Oh... oh no... oh noooo... we lost ANOTHER F18... that's really too bad... guess it can't be helped... seems like we DO need these F35 in the end, huh? The sooner the better..."

Pakistani Oerlikon have been engaging IAI drones for some time now, near Lahore.

Mostly Harops.

Heh... is it really "my narrative" though?

She is all chumy with Jolani, Erdogan & cie. That's not a "narrative" if that's established.

I assume one is referring to Ursula von der Leyen?

Pakistan claims (claims) to have destroyed an Indian S-400 SAM system.

This spat is so damn hard to follow properly. Both sides have long histories of claiming stuff that later turns out to be utter rubbish. And the various videos are often in Parkinson's Shakey Cam at night.

But considering how ‘well’ Russian air defences are doing in the war with Ukraine, it is not impossible to believe that an S-400 system has been destroyed by the Pakis...

Lots of claims being made as to what has been destroyed.

For instance, Pakistan published details of the air battle in which they claimed five Indian Air Force fighters were shot down.
According to preliminary information they provided, up to 125 fighters were involved on both sides, none of which left friendly airspace, and long-range air-to-air missiles were launched from a distance of 50 to 160km.
According to the Pakistani, three Rafale, one Su-30MKI, one MiG-29 were shot down.

Footage provided appear to confirm the wrecks of one Rafale, one Mirage, a possible Su30MKI and a Mig29, all from India.

We don't know what are the losses sustained by Pakistan. Just like we don't know the extent of the losses sustained by India.

What is certain is: we are seeing debris of stuff fired by both sides.
Foreign intelligence services confirmed some of the claims, but only a very few of them when considered within the entirety of things.

We also are seeing an increase of systems being fired by both sides. From ballistic missiles, long range rockets, artillery shells, drones.

In recent events, Indian cruise missile hitting Pakistan’s Nur Khan Airbase, and the Pathankot Airfield and Udhampur Air Force Station in India have been hit, in response by Pakistan. Targets included BrahMos missile storage in Beas, Udhampur Air Base, and Pathankot airfield.
