Matangi successfully completed the transit from Mumbai to Thoothukudi in Autonomous Mode covering a passage of about 1600km (850 nm). The transit was Flagged off by Hon'ble Raksha Mantri during Swavlamban 2024 on 29 Oct 24. Indian Navy & SDE jointly celebrate this accomplishment. Indian Army inducted 550 'Asmi' machine pistols into Northern Command. The weapon which has been developed by Colonel Prasad Bansod of the Indian Army, in collaboration with DRDO is being manufactured indigenously by Lokesh Machine Hyderabad. The 'Asmi' machine pistol is a robust, compact and reliable weapon designed for close quarter battles and specialised operations. Its unique semi-bullpup design allows for single-handed operation both as a pistol and submachine gun.
The opening ceremony of the 15th edition of Exercise Vajra Prahar 2024, was held at the Orchid Combat Training Centre in Idaho, USA. Contingents introduced themselves, shared cultural insights and were briefed about the conduct of the exercise.

4th edition of Pan-India Coastal Defence Exercise Sea Vigil scheduled on 20 & 21 Nov 24. Involving 06 Ministries & 21 Organisations/ agencies, & across all coastal states & union territories, Sea Vigil 2024 will span an unprecedented scale. The Exercise focuses on strengthening the security of coastal assets like ports, oil rigs, Single Point Moorings, Cable Landing Points & critical coastal infrastructure including the coastal population as well as to raise awareness amongst coastal communities about Maritime Security.
Indian Navy’s Kalvari Class Submarine - INS Vela, recently made a port call at Colombo, Sri Lanka, as part of her deployment. The submarine was ceremonially received by the Defence Advisor in Colombo. This visit symbolizes the strengthening of India - Sri Lanka maritime ties, fostering friendship, cooperation, & interoperability between the two nations. This visit aligns with India’s SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative, emphasizing collective regional security & growth.
