2000 SIG716G2s are going to Navy. SIGs will replace their AKs & sterlings. VBSS guys are not actually using sterlings in actual ops. Borrowed some AKs & MP5s from Marcos for anti piracy ops.

That is fine, mate I think Sig will go to Marcos, but least they can be armed with INSAS or if they want smaller one like the coast guard with Amogh?

MARCOS are around 800 to 1000. 2000 SIGs will be distributed to VBSS & Sagar Prahari bal ( SPB ) too. Plus MARCOS have Tavors & AK-103 as their standard issued rifles. So not every SIG of Navy's share will go to them. During navy day VBSS was issued with AK,Mp5 & INSAS. Sometimes they get Tavors too. All these problems will be solved once production of AK-203 starts and rest of the sailors will also get equipped.

Navy conducted trials of JVPC few months back. But no news about placing order.
