Politics India vs Pakistan

I also tried to follow current events there... no luck. Both sides have very little to no credibility. But wild claims all around:

"We got you good!"
"Oh, hah! We got you worse!" ad infinitum - ad nauseum.

A friend of a cousin is Indian, 20, female, in uni (progressive to the max). Like many Indians she is both highly nationalistic and vehemently anti-Israel. Now she's upset that "Westerners" (with which she means the media, NGOs, fellow students etc) are in her opinion siding with Pakistan as they always do when islam is involved "while India is defending itself from terror!"

Welcome to Israel's world you dumb b*tch! (Y)

So the Indian authorities should politely ask the Pakistani government to send their beat cops to go around Gaza Pakistan gently requesting the perpetrators hand themselves in to law enforcement right? Same standards and all that! 😏

Heh... she seems to be over-reacting a bit.

Though yeah, the terror attack on Indians required a response.

Breakdown of the air-battle from the PAF spokesperson.
Thank you for sharing! Extremely fascinating stuff. The claim that this might be the biggest bvr air battle in history might not be without a warrant.

What is scary is how my friend from the Philippine Air Force basically called out what the future of air warfare would look like and how the Pakistani Air Force just proved him right. This time with real world data. He did it some years back...

Im pretty sure the Chinese Air Force has more detailed info and are already implementing changes and adjustments to their weapons, systems and doctrines.

Advice: divide by ten what they say.

I can tell you about the Indian pilot who told the Gripen pilots that the MiG-21 was the best fighter because he shot everything down with it.
Pakistan ditto.

Well, perhaps not "in history" since I doubt it surpasses some of the big air battles of WW2.

But from a "modern history" point of view, yeah, these numbers are pretty impressive.

Large number of planes might have been launched during the Desert Storm and OIF, but these pretty much overwhelmingly one sided. But a 70 v 40... that's something.
Must have been a very intense moment for air-controllers, coordinators and radar guys. The chatter might have been quite something as well.

Hence the "bvr" bit, Beyond-Visual-Range.

There were 100+ ship formations during Desert Storm, Allied Force, Iraqi Freedom, Inherent Resolve etc, but mostly against scattered flights of enemy aircraft at most as you said.

Of course theoretically speaking 130 allied aircraft opening up on two outdated Mig-29s before they even knew there was anything but clouds in the air is technically a BVR air battle involving 132 aircraft ...

No one said it had to be a fair fight
