Warfare HAMAS attack on Israel, Oct 2023 & Iran’s Proxies.

What... where is this report in other media?? All I can find is this, Daily Express, some obscure news sites and random twitter posts. The leader of the Palestinian Authority is targeted for assassination and there's barely anything about it? This should be headline news everywhere! Even Al-Jazeera has nothing about this... what's going on?!

[edit]Aha, this is fake:

Nevermind the bias in the account, this proves that it's a load of bunk. No wonder this wasn't all over the shop, I guess the Sun and the Express don't bother to verify stories anymore...

So president Dimwit apparently wants a 3 day cease-fire which he hopes might lead to the release of 10-15 hostages. Maybe throw in an odd $6B to increase the odds by little
No deal. Needs to be 100 hostages. Hamas need a breather really really badly. 10-15 means you would give a ceasefire for 100...

Are there any legal or constitutional obstructions to the national government overriding local government and sending in the army to augment the police?

Met police has 35000 officers. They can also borrow from the rest of the U.K. should be more than enough. Officially mil has never been deployed on public order tasks, but have done anti terror, usually paired with a policeman.

On paper, the 2 event can be kept separate, but how do you factor troublemakers. Could be a tough weekend.

As we've seen the police refuses to do their job and in fact is actively siding with the terrorist supporters and rioters. That's why I asked. No use if there's 2 officers or 35,000 if they don't uphold the law and constitution, but rather act based on political bias, they're useless.

Depends on their briefing. So far it’s been to keep it calm. Could change.

You need political fortitude to police these events as there will 1% there to agitate the other side and create photo opportunities for propaganda purposes. Also, there will be that 1% just there to cause harm, goad the cops, and loot. I am free this weekend if the Met are looking for volunteers....

There will be many thousands of vets there, could be very educational.

Technically the public order act of 1986 section 13 part 4:

(4) If at any time the Commissioner of Police for the City of London or the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis reasonably believes that, because of particular circumstances existing in his police area or part of it, the powers under section 12 will not be sufficient to prevent the holding of public processions in that area or part from resulting in serious public disorder, he may with the consent of the Secretary of State make an order prohibiting for such period not exceeding 3 months as may be specified in the order the holding of all public processions (or of any class of public procession so specified) in the area or part concerned.

Secretary of state is the home secretary Suella Braverman.

Generally it's up to the police to decide whether or not there is reasonable grounds for suspending gatherings. Then it has to be for a significant reason, ie threat of severe violence and disorder, which is what the deputy commisioner of the Met police expressed before being acknowledged by Braverman in her tweet which I previously posted:

Now the main commissioner has come out and said what he said above. So it's like he's said F*** the deputy's comments, it's happening because the law, even though the law can be temporarily overruled if needed. They've already been stretched as it is and now they're going to have to police two different gatherings on the same day... 🤷‍♂️

The UN claims something like 80+ of their staff have died in Gaza. Whether it's 8 or 80, I'm only wondering how many had a weapon in their hands at the time of death or in the process of launching them

Affirm that, and good on them, too.

Trying to police 1% at a protest this size is always going to be problematic, good luck to the Met.

Hehehe "Rise of the foot soldier", anyone?

The US Navy has dispatched a guided-missile submarine to the Middle East.

The US Central Command shared a picture that seemed to show the submarine in Egypt's Suez Canal. CENTCOM posted an announcement on X on Sunday noting that an Ohio-class nuclear submarine "arrived in the US Central Command area of responsibility," without offering further details regarding the specific location or the name of the vessel in question.

Newsweek has contacted CENTCOM by email to request further information.
