Warfare HAMAS attack on Israel, Oct 2023 & Iran’s Proxies.

Somehow I don’t think the Syrian air defenses were much of a problem before that. It’s not like Israel had a special problem getting to Iran the first two times.
no, but now they can fly their 707 tankers half way....

More of an obnoxious pebble in the shoe than anything.

But still, even a old S75 and S125 can be a problem.

Better safe than sorry, especially since we don't really know what will come of the new Syrian administration.

Bibi has pointz

I can readily imagine not so distant future, in which Iran and Shia Axis move to the background, Israel and Lebanon may have some sort of semi-official normalization going on, and now the new big regional Cold War is between Moderate Axis (Israel, Abraham Accord countries) and the Sunni Islamist axis led by Turkey and Qatar. Syria of course being the primary arena for all this to play out, with both Axes supporting their preferred factions. The logical end of which is direct armed confrontation between Israel and Turkey.
The coming several months will tell.

If you recast that from a political and ideology view into a money and resource based view would it look the same? Genuinely asking.

I really only understand the surface of this thing.

Earthquake bomb? Given how terrorists thrive in tunnels, that sounds like a viable weapon. Also in the vid is mention of Iran's "drone carrier" - a vessel similar in appearance to an aircraft carrier, but dedicated to bringing drones closer to the fight. We could get up a betting pool on how long it'll last. I'm sure Ukraine will gladly share intel on sea-going drones that have been successful against the Orc navy.

I'm not convinced any special type of bomb was used. An ammunition depot going up will trigger an earthquake by sheer explosive power.

I also wouldn't put it past the Syrians not to have any protective measures in place meaning that if it goes up it all goes up at the same time.

I don’t see how. It’s not like we have some sort of conflict over oil fields or something. Also, it’s important to remember that before Erdogan in 90s the relationship between Turkey and Israel were incredibly close. Perhaps only second to US. Countless mutual defense projects, military cooperation, training exercises, etc etc. Even now you can spot Turkish Sabra tanks used in Syria.
Point being, without the Islamist political project, there aren’t really any serious geopolitical issues.

Reuters reports from knowledgeable sources that a ceasefire in Gaza is expected to be signed in the coming days and that Prime Minister Netanyahu is on his way to Cairo for talks.
Bibi is conspicuously absent from his trial today.

The PM's office says that Netanyahu visited the Syrian side of Mt. Hermon today. They deny he's travelling to Cairo. An Arab diplomat has also denied it.
