Last week the UK dispatched HMS Diamond, a Type 45 destroyer (AD) to the Persian Gulf. She joins Operation Kipion, the British presence in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean made up of HMS Lancaster, a Type 23 ASW frigate, minehunters HMS Bangor, HMS Chiddingfold and HMS Middleton and the amphibious transportship RFA Cardigan Bay.
