0:02-0:06 "Merkava is heavy", "Merkava is slow"... what a thing of beauty.
Merkava IS heavy, but it seems it isnt slow ;-) I Like the Tank too.

It depends on the context, huh?

Interesting precedent that sets...

Via Tiborublog and Lemilblog facebook group, thanks to Sándor Gúth:
"Benjamin Netanyahu, at least privately, has spoken openly about what Israel needs most to destroy Hamas: a steady supply of more American bombs. "We need three things from the US: ammunition, ammunition and ammunition". "There are huge protests in Western capitals", Netanyahu added, fearing that political pressure overseas could jeopardise US arms supplies. "We must counter-pressure . . . There have been disagreements with our best friends". FT graphic."

Addendum: After the Cold War, the West, in its infinite wisdom, cut much of its military manufacturing capacity. Non-guided bombs and artillery shells are cheap, but their production requires skilled labour and high energy requirements: ergo, there is little money to be made from them. Moreover, Desert Storm proved that precision weapons are the future. As long as there are no large-scale, protracted operations, because then the guided 155 mm ammunition, which can be bought for tens of thousands of dollars each, or the GPS-guided kits that can aim a penny bomb with metre precision, will run out very quickly. Which are so expensive - partly because of low defence budgets, small batch production is never cheap - that there simply won't be enough.
While wars are being waged or threatened to be waged by authoritarian regimes from Venezuela, Africa, Gaza, Ukraine and Taiwan.

A Gaza division reservist is accused of stealing weapons from soldiers wounded on the Gaza border and taken to hospital. He confessed and claimed that he wanted to take the weapons to his parents in Herzliya to protect themselves. Another fighter, who was caught with 2 kg of marijuana, was released after he said he had been fighting in Nahal Oz and was surrounded by dead bodies, which is why he had the foo... his story worked at first, but it soon became clear he was lying - , he is also being charged. But that doesn't explain why they let him out the first time...

On one side we have these amazing female heroes, and on the other it seems at least part of October 7th could have been avoided if senior commanders hadn't ignored the female border surveillance units:

More and more it comes down to the arrogance of the people in charge... "oh no, the Gaza Palestinians won't do this, they don't want war" and then they even take away some of the existing defence positions making the border even weaker than it was. No wonder you get so many conspiracy theories about the attack being an "inside job" with this attitude...

The west went to guided weapons, and I would say this was justified, the cost of one guided weapon, versus the number of 'cheap/dumb' weapons you have to use to get a probability kill - not guaranteed - is massive. Russia is seeing this it needs a train car of shells to equal a truck load of guided weapons. With our democracy, and squeamishness about both mil and civil deaths, I'd still go with guided, most of the time.

The issue now is how many we have sent versus whats needed. Ukraine production should be coming on line, and existing ammo plants in Nato are expanding production etc.

Well yes, but also:

The top commanders of the Israel Defense Forces were aware, in the hours, days and months that preceded the Hamas-led devastating October 7 onslaught in southern Israel, that the Palestinian terror group was drilling intensively for a planned large-scale invasion, and the Hamas leader even said publicly that this was his plan — but the military still didn’t act and even diverted forces away from the Gaza front, believing that this was empty boasting and that the terror group wasn’t interested in war, according to Hebrew media reports Monday.

Why in the world would you do this?? It's clear that serious mistakes were made here, of course they didn't know for sure that it was going to happen, but if there is a possibility, you'd want to make sure you're not asleep at the wheel, right?

He won't be home obviously, but at least they can blow it up and deliver a considerable symbolic blow.

Its the ZPD what do you expect?

Look here a ZPD guy wanting to raise the debt ceiling in light of "rebuilding Gaza"

Yes thats my total first utmost important interest as a German tax payer.

This party is totally lost in idiocy and naïvity.

Mützenich should talk to some survivors to get a sense of reality.

Or at least read the transcripts.

All those Western politicians cozying up to terrorists and legitimizing them share a big burden of guilt with each other.

I could be wrong, but didn't Hamas brand their Oct. 7th terror attack as some sort of a flood?

That article is over a month old. Just saying.
