Who the hell produces a child, then says F*** it,let’s F*** around so we get bombed in 10 to 20 years time, and our kids die.

I get that they want all of Israel, but after 70 years of getting your ass kicked, someone has to suggest that ‘getting by’ might be a better idea. Many many ‘great’ nations have had to cut their cloth, of course the axis countries, but also U.K. gave up its empire, South Africa changed its political system, probably many others. Even Russia, current events withstanding.

This is a western way of thinking, the same mistake that western governments consistently make.

The Israel Defense Forces releases new information on the operations of the 252nd Reserve Division in the Gaza Strip during Israel’s ground offensive which began late last month.With the 252nd Division fighting in Gaza, it marks the first time since the 1982 First Lebanon War that an entire IDF reserve division is maneuvering in enemy territory.

The IDF says that in recent days the division captured the Beit Hanoun area in northern Gaza, while engaging in battles with Hamas operatives and demolishing the terror group’s infrastructure, including tunnels. It says that since the beginning of the fighting, the 252nd Division has killed hundreds of Hamas operatives, including senior members, in Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya.

The division’s forces also destroyed Hamas compounds, launch positions and tunnel networks, among some 300 targets that were struck in the last week, according to the IDF.The commander of the division, Brig. Gen. Moran Omer, says it is a “defining moment” for the 252nd Division and the IDF’s reserve army in general.

The 252nd Division "Sinai" is an Israel Defense Forces reserve division under the Southern Command. Formed in 1968, it was the first permanent division in the IDF. As of November 2023, it is commanded by Brigadier General Moran Omer.The unit played an active role in the 2023 Israel–Hamas war. The Israel Defense Forces said that "the 252nd Division has killed hundreds of Hamas operatives, including senior members, in Beit Hanoun and Jabaliya."

I'm extremely sceptical, that the deal is going to work out as planned. What I think is going to happen, is that Hamas is going to release the first batch of ten or so people as a teaser. Then they are going to create some sort of nasty provocation, which will put Israel in an impossible dilemma - to break ceasefire and give up on the rest of hostages, or to ignore it and set up precedent for more and worse of them.
