A known propaganda pic widely used by the Turks over the years, a Turkish soldier ''offers a cigarette'' to the 23 year old Greek Cypriot POW, Ioannis Papagianis.

Papagiannis wιth 4 other Greek Cypriot soldiers were executed by the Turks in 14 August 1974, photographed alive as POWs by the Turkish journalist Ergin Konuksever who was present in their capture.

Their skeletal remains were found in 2009 in a well along with 14 skeletal remains of 14 Greek Cypriot civilians.

Among the missing after the Turkish invasion are also four US citizens of Greek Cypriot descent.

There were five missing originally but through DNA the remains of Andreas Kassapis were identified in late 90s.
