The following are mostly improvised AFVs and other weapons used by the Turkish militia (TMT, often shortened to Teskilat). They are displayed on the grounds of the National Struggle Museum in Turkish Lefkosa. Not to be confused with the museum of the same name in Greek Lefkosia. The name is where the common ground ends!View attachment 347630View attachment 347631View attachment 347627View attachment 347628I was at the 1974 landing beach yesterday. I fine collection of AFVs and an excellent memorial.
This looks like a stripped-down Bofors AA gun to me, but happy to be corrected.
My first thought was that this is a US 75mm pack howitzer. But the barrel looks different. Does anyone else have a view?
The Turkish Army does an excellent job with memorials in North Cyprus (giant statues are a speciality! I wonder if there is a special engineer workshop or artist in residence?). Here is just one I visited at Bogaz Sehitligi. This is inside what was known as the Turkish Triangle of villages north of Nicosia held by the TMT in 1974. The Turkish Army reinforced the area with airborne troops (paras and helicopters) during the operation.
