Exploiting the speed and reach of aircraft to out-manoeuvre the enemy is the hallmark of airborne forces, and Airborne Artillery - 7 Para RHA has trained how they would fly their guns into battle.
Basing out of RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire on Exercise Venture Spirit, soldiers joined forces with an A400M Atlas transport aircraft from XXIV Squadron, which trains aircrew to operate the RAF’s transport aircraft. The soldiers and loadmasters worked together to refine how to load a Pinzgauer gun tractor and 105m Light Gun, before taking flight to @raf honington in Suffolk to practise an Engine Running Ofload. This saw the aircraft land, with the gun being driven off the aircraft and brought into action by the runway as fast as possible.

13 Air Assault Support Regiment Royal Logistic Corps is running a fortnight-long leadership course for 30 RLC soldiers from across the brigade to give them the required skills as they promote from Private to Lance Corporal, and on from there.
The training started with a week in the classroom learning about the leadership role of a Lance Corporal, who is second-in-command of a section of eight soldiers. The troops - including chefs, drivers and logistic supply specialists - then moved out into Friday Woods this week to apply what they have learnt.
