South Korea started constructing the second KSS-III Batch-II submarine.
The boat, built by local shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), will be completed by 2026 and delivered to the Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN) in 2028 after undergoing sea trials.

An F-35A fighter operated by South Korea's Air Force made an emergency landing during a training session Tuesday due to avionic system issues, with its pilot having emerged unscathed, officials said.
The radar-evading jet made the belly landing on a runway at an air base in Seosan, 151 kilometers south of Seoul, at 12:51 p.m. after the issues caused the landing gear to momentarily malfunction, the officials said.
The pilot walked away unscathed, they added.
Before the landing, the Air Force mobilized a fire engine to apply special foam on the runway, which prevented the jet's fuselage from sustaining any serious damage.
It apparently marks the first known belly landing ever reported since the U.S. began exporting F-35A fighters to foreign countries, an informed military source said.

Japan and the United States have expressed concern about what they described as China’s “ongoing efforts” to “undermine” the rules-based international order, as the two countries agreed to deepen defence cooperation in response to new and emerging threats.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, and the two countries’ defence ministers met virtually to discuss stepping up security ties amid a growing focus on Japan’s international role.

Ahead of the meeting, Blinken said the US and Japan would sign a new defence collaboration deal designed to counter emerging threats, such as hypersonic and space-based weaponry, in a week when North Korea tested what it said was a hypersonic missile.

Blinken said the US-Japan alliance “must not only strengthen the tools we have, but also develop new ones”, citing Russia’s military build-up against Ukraine, Beijing’s “provocative” actions over Taiwan, and the North Korean missile launch.

Russia, China and the US are also racing to build hypersonic weapons whose extreme speed and manoeuvrability make them hard to spot and block with existing missiles.

“We’re launching a new research and development agreement that will make it easier for our scientists, for our engineers and programme managers to collaborate on emerging defence related issues, from countering hypersonic threats to advancing space based capabilities,” Blinken said at the opening of the meeting.

The jet, with the serial number 6650, disappeared from radar screens at 3:23 p.m., about 30 minutes after it took off from Chiayi Air Base in southern Taiwan for routine training, it added.
Chiayi residents have reported seeing the jet crash into the sea near Aogu Wetland in Chiayi's Dongshi Township, according to the National Rescue Command Center.

Perhaps the US should have dropped something much, much larger on the damaged helicopter:rolleyes:

Yes, and their Pakistani allies let the Chinese have access to the tail rota of a classified airframe - noise dampening and stealth materials/coating
(and were hiding Bin Man at the same time near their military training facilities)
With 'friends' like that, who needs enemies:rolleyes:

Lorenzana shared in a Facebook post that the NOA was issued on Dec. 28, 2021 for the PHP32-billion project that comes with an initial logistics support package and training for pilots and maintenance crew.

The Contract Agreement is now being drafted after which a Notice to Proceed will officially commence the project.

"The delivery of these helicopters will start on CY (Calendar Year) 2023 (five units) while the remaining ones will be delivered in three batches as follows: CY2024 - 2nd batch (10 units); CY2025 - 3rd batch (10 units); and CY2026 - last batch (seven units)," Lorenzana posted.

The Philippine Air Force earlier (PAF) completed the acquisition of 16 Black Hawk helicopters, also from the Polish aerospace manufacturer, worth USD241 million (about PHP11.5 billion).
